After graduating Miyazaki University, Japan, Mutsumi completed her posgtraduate studies at Trinity College of Music London. Her repertoire is wide and varied, seeing her sing as a soloist in music from the middle ages to the 18th century, included Operas ("Dido and Aeneas" ~Dido~by Purcell / "Orfeo" ~Musica, Silvia~by Monteverdi / "Anacreon" ~La praitress de Baccus ~by Rameau / "L'Oroutea"~Giacinta~by Cesti / "Dafne" ~Dafne~by da Gagliano), as an ensemble member in numerous performances of madrigals and cantatas, and extensively involving her in the music of Toru Takemitsu and other 20th century composers.
